How often should I go to the dentist?Since prevention is better then cure. It is recommended for clients with good oral hygiene to visit the hygienist or dentist every six months to ensure that there are no signs of damage to the teeth or infections of the gums. However people with high risk from dental decay or periodontal disease may be asked to by their dentist to attend more frequently every 3-4 months. What does periodontal treatment involve?Initially the gums health is assessed through periodontal analysis or charting. This involves recording the depths of periodontal pockets, points of bleeding, the roots of the teeth, gum recession plus tooth mobility. A treatment plan is formulated and recommended. This will consist of 2-6 visits of scaling, root planning and subgingival curettage of the tooth surface and pockets formed by the gum infection, polishing of the teeth surface plus detailed oral hygiene instruction. On completion of this treatment, a review appointment will be scheduled. What are your office opening hours?For your convenience all our surgeries are open form 8am till 6pm Monday to Friday. We also open on Saturdays from 9am till 1pm at our South Yarrad-spa clinic. Are dental treatments Tax deductible?You are entitled to a rebate of 20% fro every dollar you have spent above $1500.00 on health care, dental, optical and physio etc. Can I claim back dental treatment back from private Health insurance?If you have dental or extras cover with any private health insurance you are eligible for a rebate from your health insurance, the amount of rebate depends on your level of cover. |
