Tooth Whitening

Get professional tooth whitening at d-spa. Staining of teeth can be caused by various factors. Some are due to your lifestyle others from faults in your tooth.

Staining commonly occurs from:

  • Smoking
  • Red wine
  • Coffee
  • Tea
  • Ageing
  • Antibiotics
  • Dyed foods

Fortunately, in most cases d-spa can remove all your stains and bring your teeth back to their natural whiteness. Using d-spa’s latest technology, you can have a whiter, brighter smile in under an hour. A whiter smile can boost your confidence and make you feel fantastic.

d-spa’s one-hour whitening procedure is one the most advanced state-of-the-art technologies. It whitens teeth and enhances your personal appearance.

We offer all our clients the safety and science of a dentist’s office with all the comforts of a spa. Our staff are more than happy to answer all your questions. If you are interested in going ahead with the treatment, a d-spa dentist will examine your teeth and gums ensuring the process will be safe and effective for you. All this while you relax watching a film, listening to music or even have a nap, we do the rest to ensure we brighten your smile.

How is teeth whitening performed?

All of our d-spa staff can explain the procedure in great detail even though the treatment is very simple:

  1. the dentist will examine and polish your teeth
  2. the gums are then protected with isolation material
  3. a whitening gel is applied to the teeth
  4. the gel is activated by the whitening machine for approximately 8 minutes. The cycle is then repeated 3-4 times within the session (depending on the severity of the staining)

What is the cost of professional tooth whitening?

If you have private health insurance, you may be eligible for a refund of up to $350 (more with some insurances), depending on your level of cover. For your convenience, all of the d-spa rooms have a Hicaps facility, which minimizes the out of pocket expense on the day of the procedure. The item numbers used to describe treatment are as follows: 015x1, 111x1, 119x2, 926x2, 118 (x2-16). Some insurances will pay on some items and not others, whilst some will pay on the item a few times on the same claim.

Will I suffer sensitivity?

20% of people will experience some sensitivity during the procedure. Reasons for sensitivity are:

  1. fine cracks in the teeth
  2. grinding
  3. toothbrush abrasion (enamel wear)

The sensitivity can last up to 24 hours after treatment. Sensitivity varies from patient to patient depending on the condition of the teeth. Most people only have mild sensitivity for a maximum of 10 hours. We recommend a product called tooth mousse after the whitening to reduce sensitivity.

How long will my teeth stay white?

The results are permanent. Over time, you will generate new staining and this will depend on your lifestyle. We recognise that all people will eventually get new stains, which is why we provide you with a home maintenance kit so you can maintain the brightness of your smile for life. The whitening kit is recommended to be used with a non-abrasive whitening toothpaste called Therabrite Plus paste.
