Meet the Team at 538 Collins Street

Dr. Douglas McKinlay, Dentist

Dr. McKinlay graduated from Glasgow Univerisity in 2011 with a Bachelor of Dental Science, he then went on to complete a Member of Faculty of Dental Surgery from the Edinburgh Royal College of Surgeons in 2013.

We’re been lucky enough to have captured Dr. McKinlay’s heart here in Australia, and he’s been a great asset to our d-spa team since September 2015 – “relaxing workplace with an enthusiastic and dedicated team”.

If you were to ask Dr. McKinlay what’s his favourite part of being a dentist he would tell you “keen interest in aesthetic dentistry and endodontics but above all enjoy helping people”.

You may not realise it but Dr. McKinlay is a keen cyclist, enjoys watching sport, attending art exhibitions, and keeping fit at the gym. He credits Melbourne with a great food scene and enjoys eating out at the great restaurants on offer. If Dr. McKinlay had to choose a favourite travel destination it would be Singapore!

Dr. Su Ng, Dentist

Armed with a Bachelor in Dental Science from the University of Queensland Dr. Ng set out in 2010 to “spread oral health education to the community”.

Dr. Ng likes to interact with all of her patients, ensuring she gets to know them all personally. She has been part of d-spa for the past 1.5years and credits her positive working environment to the team “we are a close-knit work family, everyone here is dedicated to their job and very professional”.

Dr. Ng can be found outside of clinic hours reading and trying new cuisines. With Japan being her favourite travel destination, there is no doubt she could recommend to you where to find Melbourne’s best sushi! “My favourite place to holiday is Japan – rich in culture and great food”.

Stephanie Chang, Oral Health Therapist/Dental Hygienist

Stephanie completed her Bachelor of Oral Health at The University of Melbourne in 2012 and we’ve been lucky enough to have her working at both our 538 Collins Street and South Yarra practices for almost 2 years.

Our patients at d-spa will find Stephanie advising them on maintaining optimal oral health, as well as offering them insights into how they can maintain their oral health routine at home. Stephanie loves working here at d-spa – “We have a great team who are friends in and outside of work. Our supportive and diverse team allows us to provide optimum care to all of our patients”.

You may not know it but Stephanie is an accomplished musician, she plays both the piano and guitar, as well as having the voice of an angel! “I’ve performed at a few of my friends’ weddings which is always fun and a great opportunity to learn new songs”.

When she is not busy being musical, Stephanie can be found getting active by swimming, running, and cycling.

Stephanie works 2 days a week here at our 538 Collins Street practice, as well as 2 days a week at our South Yarra location.

Emma Cubis, Oral Health Therapist/Dental Hygienist

Graduating in 2013 from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Oral Health, Emma has been with us here at d-spa for the past 2 years. “I enjoy meeting and communicating with people, building trust and rapport to help them discover and understand the importance of oral health” – Emma is committed to providing all of our patients exceptional customer service and loves educating patients on how best to effectively improve their own oral health, especially “making all the children’s dental experiences a fun one”.

When asked what her favourite part of working at d-spa is, Emma enthusiastically said “I love d-spa’s vision to provide holistic, gentle and comfortable treatment alongside a strong emphasis on preventative dentistry”.

Outside of d-spa you will find Emma enjoying brunch out, keeping active at the gym, or planning her next travel adventure – her favourite destination is Hawaii.

Siobhan Kenny, Oral Health Therapist/Dental Hygienist

After completing her Certificate III in Dental Assisting at RMIT in 2004, Siobhan gained clinical experience in the dental industry before embarking on her Bachelor of Oral Health Science at La Trobe University (2014).

The d-spa team has been fortunate enough to have Siobhan join us in 2016, bring with her an infectious enthusiasm for improving our patients knowledge of dental hygiene and providing a high-level of oral care to all.

“Working in the Dental Industry has allowed me to explore fantastic career opportunities and create lifelong relationships with my peers… Every day I get to interact with people, and also challenge myself with critical thinking to improve clinical outcomes for patients”.

One of Siobhan’s career highlights was a volunteer placement in Nepal, because it allowed her to educate the local communities on good oral hygiene practices. “It was after this experience that I was awarded the Colgate Oral Health Promotion Award, for my passion in health promotion”. Siobhan would love to dedicate more of her time to health promotion, specifically in the area of pregnancy and oral health.

When Siobhan isn’t busy promoting healthy oral hygiene practices to our d-Spa patients you will find her enjoying time up the NSW coast camping, or generally trying to keep both her body and mind fit and health!

Kate Robinson, Oral Health Therapist/Dental Hygienist

Kate has been with us here at d-spa, pretty much from the get-go. She joined us 6 months after we opened our 538 Collins Street dental clinic! D-spa has been incredibly lucky to have her on-board for over 10 years, as we help make Melbourne smile.

In 2001, Kate completed her studies in Dental Therapy at Melbourne University, then spent the next year working in the public sector in Geelong before moving interstate to Adelaide to complete the bridging course in Dental Hygiene in 2003.

We asked Kate what she loves most about her job here at d-spa: “I have such wonderful, loyal patients who I've got to know quite well over the years. Building personal relationships with my patients and working together to achieve great oral health outcomes is what I enjoy most!”

Being part of the fun and friendly dental team at d-spa means Kate feels “lucky enough to get to work with my friends every day”. However, when she isn’t busy working alongside her friends in our clinic you will find her spending time with her young family or escaping down the coast for weekends away.

Kelly Madrusan, Practice Manager

After initially completing her Advanced Diploma in Business (Advertising) at Swinburne University, Kelly was motivated to enter the dental industry after seeing how much her friend enjoyed her dental traineeship. This inspired Kelly to enrol in a Certificate III in Dental Assisting (RMIT) and following her graduation, she was welcomed into the D-Spa fold in 2009.

Known for her bubbly personality, Kelly is the friendly first point of contact for all 538 Collins St patients. With her warm and easy going nature, Kelly is able to naturally help patients feel comfortable and welcome in what can be perceived as an ‘intimidating’ dental environment. She strives to provide all patients with the highest level of patient care and service, ensuring that warmth and care is a paramount concern for her team. Having been with D-Spa for over 8 years, Kelly still finds great satisfaction from her patient interaction: “Seeing patients so happy and satisfied with their end results is very rewarding, especially knowing that D-Spa was part of the process”.

Away from work, Kelly enjoys travelling to new destinations and is an avid cook who loves whipping up culinary delights for her family and friends.
