Teeth Whitening

  • How is Teeth Whitening performed?

At d-spa, we use the most advanced state of the art technology to instantly whiten your teeth. Our safe and effective one hour in chair treatment is simple:

    1. Our dentist will examine and polish your teeth
    2. Your gums are then protected with isolation material
    3. A whitening gel is applied to your teeth
    4. The gel is activated by the whitening machine for approximately 8 minutes. The cycle is then repeated 3-4 times within the session depending on the severity of the staining

All you have to do is kick back and relax whilst watching a film, listen to music or even have a nap – our professional team will do the rest to transform your under an hour. It’s that easy!

  • What is the cost of professional teeth whitening?

If you have private health insurance, you may be eligible for a refund of up to $350 (more with some insurances), depending on your level of cover. For your convenience, all of the d-spa rooms have a Hicaps facility, which minimizes the out of pocket expense on the day of the procedure. The item numbers used to describe treatment are as follows: 015x1, 111x1, 119x2, 926x2, 118 (x2-16). Some insurances will pay on some items and not others, whilst some will pay on the item a few times on the same claim.

  • Will I suffer sensitivity from Teeth Whitening?

20% of people will experience some sensitivity during the procedure due to the following:

    1. Fine cracks in the teeth
    2. Grinding
    3. Toothbrush abrasion (enamel wear)

The sensitivity can last up to 24 hours after treatment and sensitivity varies from patient to patient depending on the condition of the teeth. Most people only have mild sensitivity for a maximum of 10 hours. To combat this, we recommend using a product called tooth mousse after the whitening treatment to help reduce sensitivity.

  • How long will my teeth stay white?

The results are permanent. Over time, you will generate new staining and this will depend on your lifestyle. We recognise that all people will eventually get new stains, which is why we provide you with a complimentary home maintenance kit and whitening gel so that you can continue to maintain your new white smile in the convenience of your home. For best results, the whitening kit is recommended to be used in conjunction with Therabrite Plus paste, a non-abrasive whitening toothpaste.
